Ways these Broncos and the flexible QB can halt that Chiefs' rule.

Week six of the 2025 NFL season

It's week six of the NFL season , following recent talk regarding two top teams as possible championship contenders, each lost their perfect starts.
Notable in those games were the amount of penalties both committed. Philadelphia committed them at crucial times meaning they kind of defeated themselves after leading 17-3 going into the final quarter versus Denver, set to play in London this weekend.
However it proved positive to see how Denver's QB the rookie managed to overcome that deficit before lead three scoring drives in three attempts in the fourth quarter, securing the victory 21-17.
Denver boast the defensive player of the year in CB Pat Surtain II. They are number one in red zone defence, while Philadelphia are number one in scoring near the end zone, and Denver won that contest.
They executed effective strategies regarding disguised blitzes. They did not always rushing extra defenders instead they could position two LBs in the interior then drop them out and dispatch a nickel from the outside.
Early on of the season, we said on a program that the Broncos could be this season's dark horses. They finished the previous year well then excelled in continuing that momentum.
Could Denver be this season's dark horses?
Recently acquired TE Evan Engram has stepped up significantly while new running back JK Dobbins is a player the team trusts. He now ranks fifth league-wide in ground gains (over 400) and tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).
I love how head coach the Broncos' leader has "RUSH!" prominently of his playcall sheet.
This demonstrates how the Broncos are a team that wants to run first, because one can achieve much based on that approach. It slows opposing rushes and maintains in positive down and distances.
This has benefited QB the young passer, who came into the league as a first-round selection last year, throwing 29 touchdown passes β just behind a star QB for the rookie record (31 back in 2020).
Josh Allen and Herbert have the arm strength to throw all over, however they don't move the mobility as Nix. He has incredible arm talent, which is different, and he is highly agile.
His assets include his movement, being able to throw while moving, and using different arm angles to make throws as he moves outside protection, the bootlegs. He is able to throw precision throws over the middle and over the corner.
As a rookie QB, aged 25, he's got a lot of poise in the pocket and is not really fazed by extra rushers. He tries to evade being tackled as much as possible and can throw under pressure. He possesses sharp intelligence and remains very decisive.
When you constantly run the ball it eats up time and makes the opponent to stay in play extended periods, and if you've got an athletic quarterback the defense must cover the field vertically side to side. It can be exhausting.
Nix has pushed back at Payton on the sideline at times and I think Payton likes that attitude, that he's a fierce rival. In my view it's exciting for him to coach a rookie QB who's kind of like play-dough. The coach can really develop him the way he desires to shape him. I think it's a unique opportunity for him.
Payton has won a championship and now passed a legend for career NFL wins (173 - tied 14th overall). He's seen everything. I think the success Denver are experiencing offensively is mostly down to his guidance, his play-calling, his situational awareness β and the combination with Nix helps make him into who he is.
You wouldn't want a better guy in your ear, to help you during some of the tougher situations and build confidence.
I believe in Denver's defence, in the QB's grit and calm. But is the team strong enough to face an elite team at full strength? Since that wasn't a Super Bowl performance by the Eagles last Sunday.
Right now, I don't think the Broncos are incredible. They're working better than most, that's a good place to hold their division. All they need to do to continue this trajectory.
They're really good at embracing their forte, that is the ground game, and this is exactly what they should do versus the New York Jets at Tottenham. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.
New York have allowed 140 yards on the ground each contest (sixth worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (10th worst), and they are the only team without a win any game.
Ever since the NFL started recording turnovers decades ago, the Jets are also the inaugural squad to go without any turnovers through five games, this is kind of shocking when you think that their new coach Aaron Glenn a defensive coach at the Detroit Lions.
The Chiefs' QB stated Kansas City are off to a poor start after Monday's defeat by the Jaguars.
After the upcoming matchup, the Broncos face a smooth-ish schedule until their break (in week 12) - the Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans plus Las Vegas Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.
In their division, Kansas City are 2-3 while Denver are even with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 so they could challenge for the top of the division.
It depends upon what version Kansas City shows up they face because Denver {beat|def
