Six Arrested Following 12 Million Euro Armed Raid on Gold Refining Lab in France

Six armed perpetrators equipped with assault rifles and handguns detonated charges to break into a gold treatment facility located in Lyon, France, causing light wounds to five employees during described as the newest significant daylight theft to affect France.

The bold operation was carried out on the afternoon of Thursday, with law enforcement authorities swiftly apprehending the individuals believed responsible and securing the stolen items valued at approximately 12 million euros (£10.5M), as stated by authorities.

Five employees of the precious metals facility were slightly hurt from the blast, and three individuals were transported to hospital for examination, officials confirmed. A total of twenty-eight staff were at the location when the thieves struck.

Those arrested, considered seasoned offenders, were detained soon afterwards in the neighboring community of Vénissieux, a source close to the investigation stated.

A woman involved who participated in the raid was likewise arrested, officers confirmed.

“Six individuals who utilized explosives in an assault targeting a precious metals company in Lyon were apprehended red-handed,” the nation's interior minister stated online, commending law enforcement for their “decisiveness, speed and control”.

Military-style weapons, pistols and explosive materials were also confiscated.

The raid happened as law enforcement in France on Thursday detained five further people, among them a key figure, in connection with the bold raid on the Louvre museum.

Dozens of investigators have been hunting four robbers who used a vehicle featuring an elevating platform and cutting gear to access a gallery on the first floor at the prestigious institution on the nineteenth of October, making off with precious items estimated to be worth 88 million euros.

In a different significant robbery, burglars recently broke into the French capital's Natural History Museum, stealing gold samples estimated at exceeding $1M. A young Chinese female was apprehended in the current month in Barcelona in connection with the break-in, officials confirmed.

The sequence of heists has raised concerns in the country regarding lax security at museums and various establishments containing precious artifacts.
