An extensive 60-day voyage through the Australian Coast is being halted days after the tragic passing of an senior female passenger who was abandoned by the vessel on a remote tropical isle.

The passenger had been walking on the remote island with fellow passengers from the Coral Adventurer, but separated from the group for a pause. The vessel left without her and went back several hours later after the personnel realised the lady was not present.

An extensive rescue mission discovered her remains the subsequent day.

Authorities are investigating the event, in coordination with law enforcement and the state coroner.

The CEO of the cruise operator announced that passengers and personnel on the ship were informed that the remainder of the voyage had been terminated due to the "tragic passing and earlier engine troubles".

"From the little details we have been provided, it looks that there was a failure of attention and common sense," she said.

She added that she wished the investigation would be able to pinpoint what "the company should have performed that might have protected Mum's existence".

"According to reports from the investigators that it was a exceptionally warm afternoon, and mum took sick on the hill climb," she stated.

"Officials suggested her to return, unescorted. Then the vessel sailed away, seemingly without performing a roll call.

"At a certain moment in that process, or not long after, she died, without company."

Operator Response

Via official communication, the Chief Executive affirmed that the organization was "working closely with authorities to aid their investigation".

He said that the company was "deeply sorry that this has transpired" and had provided its full support to the family.
