A Number of Affected as Rough Air Impacts A Delta Airlines Plane into Sydney, Australia
Multiple passengers and crew were hurt following a Delta Airlines jet traveling from LA to Sydney, Australia experienced rough air Friday morning.
Delta Flight 41 "experienced a brief period of turbulence" as it touched down at Sydney Airport, an airline spokesperson informed. Four flight attendants sustained injuries.
Local paramedics reported they assessed five patients, and transported a trio to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries that comprised back pain and head pain. The injured spanned from their 30s up to the 70s.
It is the latest incident of planes encountering atmospheric disturbance, with aviation specialists indicating that climate change is a key driver.
On board were 245 passengers and 15 crew members on the Airbus A350, the Delta spokesperson noted, adding that the plane arrived "safely" at the airport at 6:48 a.m. local time on the day in question.
The NSW Ambulance Service reported they received a call just a mere three minutes ahead of the plane touched down, and emergency vehicles were ready and waiting at the airport.
